This is a sweater that I made for a baby that was born recently. It is a 6 month size and the pattern is loosely based on the Knitting Pure and Simple top down baby sweater pattern. I wanted to knit in a different gauge and some changes, so I had to rework the whole pattern. I changed the sleeve cuffs so that the roll is more subtle. I also changed the neck so that the roll is smaller. In order to do that, I had to add in a few more decreases.
Summary:
- I am not sure how much I can list here about my changes without infringing upon copyright, but I can get you started by saying that I initially cast on stitches as follows (/ represents a marker): 2/13/20/13/2 on size 6 circ needle
- When knitting sleeves, pick up 10 st under each arm (I used size 7 dpn).
- I forgot to write down what I did for the sleeves. I think that I knit four rows even, then did a decrease row. (thus decreasing every 5th row). Continue in this manner down to 27 st. Knit 1 row, then decrease to 25 st. Change to size 5 dpn and knit 2 rows. Bind off.
- For the collar, I picked up the stitches using size 5 circ needles, knit 1 round, did a decrease round where I decreased 2 st at each corner, following the raglan pattern. I repeated these two rounds 1 time, knit 1 round even, and then bound off. I used a combination of knit 2 tog and ssk in order to make the decreases match the raglan pattern.
- For the bottom hem, I changed to size 5 circ and knit 3 rows around before binding off.
