I have decided to surprise my son with a pair of socks for Christmas. He really wanted an orange and white pair, so I came up with this striped idea. They sort of remind me of Nemo, so that will make it even more fun for him.
I did an orange short row toe, knit two rounds of orange, then switched to white. From there on, I did 4 rows of white and 12 rows of orange, 4 white, 12 rows of orange, 2 rows of white and then did the heel. The heel is done in orange, and then the switched back to white immediatly after for two rows. I switched back to orange, knit 1 round, and then switched to 1×1 ribbing for 11 rows of orange, then 4 rows of white, 12 orange, and then bound off. If I were to start over (which I am not) I would change the stripe pattern. I don’t like how there is a block of 4 rows of white that is broken up by the orange heel. I think it looks funny. But, these are the socks for a child, and like him, they don’t have to be perfect.

Very interesting site… I wish I could build one like yours!nancy
