Pattern: Poppy Mini-Bag, from Helloknitty.com
Size: approx 9″ wide by 6.5″ high
Yarn: Cascade 220, colors black and charcoal gray(100% Peruvian highland wool), worsted weight, 220 yards/100 grams per skein
Amount of yarn: just over 1 skein of gray, and a small amount of black
Needles: Boye Needlemaster sizes 13 and 11
Started/Finished: the actual knitting was done months ago, but the lining was done two days before Christmas
Recipient: My sister
I knit this bag back in September, to give to my sister as a Christmas present. I honestly thought that she would like it, but well, I was obviously wrong (see previous post). Anyway, I put a lot of thought into the bag, spent time shopping for the lining, ordered a magnetic snap, etc, etc. It was an easy pattern to knit, and felted perfectly, but working with the silk lining was a little tricky. I used the machine to sew the lining and attched it to the bag by hand. In the end, I think that the lining come out nice. Not perfect, but definitely nice. The magnetic snap is a nice addition, and I do recommend it. I used plastic canvas behind the lining to stablilize the snap, and I use a liquid on the lining where I poked the snap through to prevent it from fraying. I wasn’t sure if she would like the flower, but thought it went well with the lining, so I attached it with a pin. It can be removed, or kept on. The flower is knit from leftover sock yarn, but the pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, so obvously mine is a bit smaller.

I love it! Great job. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
How could she not have just loved that purse - it is too cute!
That purse is great! The lining makes it look so professional. Don’t you love how Cascade 220 felts?

I haven’t felted 220 yet, but wow! that makes me want to try (and makes me a little fearful since I have a bag worth for a sweater for me). :)
I think it is beautiful. The poppy matching the lining is perfect.
